The Studio Apartment

The Studio is a six-storey, 30-unit apartment development located within a few minutes’ walk to Macau’s heritage precinct and the heart of the city.

The new building facilitates a transition between the different styles and scale of the two neighbouring buildings. Our design approach focuses on integrating the contemporary design within the complex and established streetscape.

The external treatment of the building is designed to introduce a sense of play in elevation, whereby the façade elements have an inverse relationship to the size of the apartments.

As a contrast to the densely built-up commercial area surrounding the site, a central atrium is introduced to create a sense of openness, as well as providing natural ventilation throughout the lift lobbies and common corridors. The landscape roof acts as a breathing space and a green retreat for the residents, and a means to escape from the busy streets of Macau.
