To ease the pressure on border checkpoint customs clearance, the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cross-Border Cooperation Framework Agreement" will be utilized to build a new port - Qingmao Port and pedestrian bridge at the site of Nam Yue Macau Wholesale Market. The brief by the Municipal Affairs Bureau of Macau calls for the design of “Qingmao Port Square and Recreational Facilities" as a 'gateway' to enhance the pedestrian and transportation environment in the area. The development will feature commercial and public facilities, including recreational and green spaces, to optimize the environment and create a favorable impression for tourists entering Macau. The architectural design concept of Qingmao Square proposed by JWCC is rooted in four elements: 1. Infinity: The symbol of infinity representing sustainable development. 2. Yin and Yang Balance: An element of Chinese culture is incorporated into the landscape design to reflect the contrast and mutual dependence between artificial and natural elements. 3. Interconnectedness: Linking China and Macau with a circular running track. 4. Completeness: Inspired by the symbol of lotus leaves, various recreational spaces are designed using different sizes of circles.

A spacious and green square has been created to form the 'gateway' image, with a distinctive circular building featuring a water curtain serving as the landmark and a sunken theater located at the center of the square. Our design of Qingmao Square aims to provide a space for relaxation for tourists and residents of all ages. It will include children's playgrounds, sports fields, and fitness facilities. By strategically placing stores on the main pedestrian walkway and in the center of the square, and making them accessible from both the front and rear, it will significantly improve pedestrian and vehicular traffic in the area while enhancing the local business environment.
